FCE. Exam overview; Top 20 questions
The First Certificate in English is an intermediate level examination which in Poland is held two times a year in June and December. There are five papers in the exam and each paper receives an equal weighting of 20 per cent of the marks. Papers are:
Top 20 questions
- Paper 1 Reading 1 hour 15 minutes
- Paper 2 Writing 1 hour 30 minutes
- Paper 3 Use of English 1 hour 15 minutes
- Paper 4 Listening 45 minutes (approximately)
- Paper 5 Speaking 14 minutes (for each pair of students)
- The examination questions are task-based and simulate real-life tasks.
- Questions in Papers 1-3 are text-based. This means that there is always something to read when doing the tasks. ˇ
- Rubrics are important and should be read carefully. They set the context and give important information about the tasks.
- For Papers 1, 3 and 4 you have to write your answers on a separate answer sheet.
