The unthreatened future of coal
Every year, the European Union is becoming increasingly dependent on the import of energy resources: at present it depends on supplies of 86% from petroleum, 64% from natural gas and 48% from coal
According to the estimates, by 2030 the European Union should become dependent from the last fuel in as much as 60%. Brussels is also trying to push through a climate package assuming a decline in CO2 emissions.
Can the present fuel mix, based primarily on black coal guarantee Poland's energy security? Is coal an asset of our economy? The participants of the Economic Forum in Krynica are reflecting on the answer to this question.
