Rz: How does direct foreign investments of our companies look like in comparison with Czech, Austrian and Hungarian companies?
Mirosław Proppé: Polish companies invested less in between 2000-2005. However, we have caught up with the Czech Republic and Hungary. Even though Austrian companies have experienced a drop in their investments, they still invest more than Polish companies. The cumulative value of direct foreign investments in Austria last year amounted to approx. 45% of GDP, while it was less than 8% in Poland. In Hungary investments amounted to approx. 15% of GDP and more than 8% in the Czech Republic. In accordance with our estimations, the cumulative value of direct foreign investments in Austria amounted to more than USD 169 billion in 2010, while it was less than USD 39 billion in Poland. In Hungary, the value of direct foreign investments amounted to USD 20.6 billion, and it was USD 15.2 billion in the Czech Republic.
