Bronisław Komorowski as president of Poland signed a strategic partnership between Poland and China on December 21st 2011. Expressing his gratitude for being so cordially welcomed in Beijing he underlined with an old Chinese proverb „It's better to see once than hear a hundred times" that he regards China as a land of enormous development. At that time Poland held the presidency of the EU and China became the 2nd economy in the world. Visit of Polish president in 2011 was a first one in 14 years made by a Polish head of state to China.
Rafał Tomański: Should Poland cooperate with China without thinking the big picture? Are the recent territorial rows on the South China Sea relevant for us? In the end maybe the economic perspective rising from Polish access in AIIB might be a Chinese attempt to lure Poland into their web of influence.
